The Australian Government this morning announced changes to the COVID-19 booster dose interval, shortening this to 4 months, effective Jan 4, 2021. The Government also announced that, from the end of February, this interval would be further shortened to 3 months.
From 10 January 2022, Australia’s COVID-19 vaccination program will be extended to all children aged 5 to 11 years. The recommended time interval between doses is 8 weeks. Booster doses are now available to everyone 18 years and over who have had both doses of their primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 5 months ago. The Pfizer vaccine is the preferred booster vaccine.
